Andrew eats HOTDOGS!!!
For most of you who follow this blog, you know Andrew is THE pickiest eater in the world. Dale and I have been working with him diligently to get him to try new things every day. This last week I made mac-n-cheese with cut up hotdogs in it for lunch. Andrew was skeptical, but tried it...the first words out of his mouth were "Mom, they taste like nonis (pepperonis)." Which I thought was pretty interesting, but thrilled that he tried it. This week he requested the same lunch, but I put the hotdog on a bun. He proceeded to take the hotdog out of the bun and asked me, "Why eat bread with it when the hotdog tastes so good by itself"? I had to think about that one for awhile and still can't come up with the answer. Why do we eat hotdogs on buns?

This is one of those times that you have to give an answer that is way over his head. Explain how he needs to eat carbs with protein to promote good health and maintain weight control.
Whey to go Andrew for trying new foods. Picky eater, hmmmmmmm, I remember one!

Silly question, Juls. We eat hotdogs on buns to catch all of the condiments - onions, relish, slaw, chili, etc.
Mom
PS - I'm tickled that Andrew has expanded his diet to now include hotdogs (known to some of us as animal entails and floor wax!)
Thanks Mom for pointing that out about the floor wax, but please try to keep your voice down so Andrew can't hear you.(hehe) Slow down on the condiments...I just got him to eat a hotdog, it's probably going to be at least another 6 months before he tries those. I never knew you were supposed to eat protein and carbs together, thanks Pop.
And better still, why do we put them on a stick, coat them with 'cornbread' and give ourselves the willies when we accidentally chomp down on that dern stick?!? Same goes for ice cream! Jen
